The Glenvar High tennis teams will take on Floyd County today with the girls at home and the boys at Floyd.
The boys fell from the ranks of the unbeaten Monday with a 5-4 loss at home against William Byrd. No results were reported but the Highlanders fell to 6-1 with the loss and were scheduled to play at home against Patrick County on Tuesday.
The girls were at Patrick County last Thursday and took a 7-2 win. Singles winners were Riley Price, Shawna Garwood, Rebecca Magruder and Karis Gillespie. The teams of Garwood and Magruder, Price and Gillespie, and Aubrey Board and Emma Peters all won doubles matched.
On Monday night the Lady Highlanders lost at Byrd, 7-2. Magruder won at third singles and Board won at number six for Glenvar’s points. The Ladies are 5-3 for the season.
“We are playing well at times but need to build more consistency before the post season,” said coach Shannon Hall.
